Steel water engineering – Ferry Terminals & Gangways

For the height positioning of ramps in ferry docks and gangways RACO offers electric cylinders from the Heavy Duty series, which are used as completely enclosed lifting columns. The spindle-nut system is optionally equipped with an additional safety nut, which prevents a fall in case of component failure of the support nut.

In most cases there is a second smaller ramp at the head end, which rests on the side of the ferry and follows the movements of the ferry. After lowering and depositing this small ramp, the RACO electric actuator is switched to the currentless freewheel mode and follows the movements of the ferry. The RACO touchless path sensor system (EPS) detects this movement and stores the current stroke position so that no reference travel is necessary when the system is switched on again.
